A player count with a time attached
The current reading and history below are separate requests. The page date describes our website behavior check, not a player measurement. Use the timestamp shown beside the actual number to judge its age.

The current count above is independent. Missing archive data is not replaced with a simulated trend.
Concurrent players are not sales or daily users
The live endpoint reports Steam users currently active in retail WARDOGS, App 1867240, while connected to Steam. It is not a count of owners, copies sold, registrations or daily active users. It does not tell you how many players are available on a particular server, in your region or in a queue.
Steam rank is a separate top-100 response. If that list was available but WARDOGS was absent, the display can say >100. If the chart feed was unavailable, the rank is unavailable instead. Valve's leaderboard peak field is kept under that name because its time window is not documented here; it is not relabelled as today's or the all-time peak.
Observation begins where the archive begins
The existing collector validates a Valve reading and stores one sample per 10-minute UTC bucket, retaining 35 days. Repeated collection in the same bucket replaces that bucket instead of inflating the sample count. Refreshing this page reads the public feed; it does not run the archive collector.
The public response contains a rolling 24-hour series and daily summaries from its retained 30-day query. The daily chart shows 30 UTC calendar dates ending on the response's date. Today's day can be incomplete, and the displayed history window ends at generatedAt, not automatically at the instant you read the page.
Minimum, average and maximum use observed samples only. Missing days stay blank; gaps longer than 15 minutes break the 24-hour line. A single point remains a single observation, not a fabricated trend. The first sample in the response is not necessarily the first observation ever collected, because older data is pruned. Expand the observed-values table to inspect the actual retained entries.
A failed request is not zero players
Current-player requests refresh every five minutes while the page is visible, or when you use the refresh button. The page checks reading age separately. A verified fallback no more than 30 minutes old can remain with its original timestamp and an earlier-reading label. Once it expires, the number, rank and peak disappear, including after returning from a background tab.
If there is no usable reading, a dash means unavailable. A genuine, validated zero is displayed as 0. History can fail independently: its error does not turn a current reading into zero, and a live count does not create an archive. History has its own refresh button and keeps the response window explicit.
Common questions
Does a high count mean all servers are healthy?
No. Queues, regional connection problems or a server outage can coexist with players elsewhere. Use dated service notices and connection diagnostics for that question.
Does the graph include a launch peak from before collection started?
No. The site does not import invented earlier points or substitute another provider's history. An empty earlier period is unknown, not zero.
Why does the number differ from another site?
Observation time, caching, the metric or the source can differ. Compare matching windows and definitions before drawing a population trend from two numbers.
Sources and verification
Developer information and community observations are labelled separately. A player report is not a guarantee from the developer. Use the stated source-check dates; a later page edit does not recheck the underlying game data.
